But wait, there's more. Basil isn't just about physical health—it's a champion for mental well-being too. Need a little memory boost? Basil's aromatic compounds have been shown to enhance cognitive function and sharpen your focus, making it the perfect study buddy or productivity booster.
And its natural anti-inflammatory properties can help alleviate symptoms of PMS, providing much-needed relief when you need it most. Say goodbye to cramps and mood swings, and hello to a sense of calm and balance.
Your little jar of basil of joy
This flavoured oil dressing is perfect for summer salads, lifting your mood and awakening joy.
Makes 240ml
A small bunch of basil
110ml extra virgin olive oil
110ml grapeseed oil
Boil 500ml water in a saucepan. Fill another small pan with cold water and add some ice cubes to it.
Hold the basil leaves by their stems and immerse the leaves in the boiling water for 8 seconds.
Then plunge into the iced water to stop them discolouring and cooking further.
Dry with kitchen paper, cut off the stems and put the leaves into a blender.
Add the two oils and blitz until smooth.
Use immediately, or if you want to store for a few days in the fridge, leave to infuse for 1-2 hours then strain through a fine mesh strainer or muslin cloth.
Transfer to a clean jar and use within 3 to 4 weeks.
